    Unhappy Computer Restarting!

    Heya

I have just been getting a problem recently with my computer restarting when it feels like it When it first started restarting i thought heat problem. So i installed v cool and opened the side of the case and opened the windows. All was well till it started again but not as much as it did before, it restarts about once a day whatever the weather. Ive had the door and windows open all day with the side of the case open running at about 42 to 44 degrees (cpu). Funnily enough tho when i checked the temp which was at 44C the pc restarted a couple of seconds later

I have made sure everything in the bios does not shut down the pc when it hits a certain temperature and have disabled it and v cool doesn't shut it off till about 60C. I can't work this one out coz during the day it would shut off at like 44C but will happily goto 52C full load later on when its really warm in the house. Im just askin is there any other problem that might be causing this?

    Many thanks

Is the power supply possibly suspect? Can you swap it out to see if the problem persists?

Also, I hate to mention the "T" word, but have you checked for trojans?

The Cleaner is a good trojan removal program.

    Free for 30 days.

well time will tell and it has unfortunatly for me, the pc restarted itself again . Thought one thing has been worrying me since the scan, there was 12 viruses found but only 5 fixed. The rest were just ad/spyware but there was one found in svchost.exe which couldn't be fixed or deleted. I think norton has left this on the system and exlcuded it from future searches so it might still be here.

Ill have a look at those links you provided, thanks

most the time random restarts are power supply or memory issues. most the time it is the power supply . the next time it reboots put your hand on the power supply , if it is really warm then that would be my guess as to the problem . it doesn't have to be warm for it to be the problem . but alot of the time the supply is working hard to supply power so it will get hot .
