Computer will not post Motherboard or Processor
1. Motherboard FICA AU11
2. Windows XP
3. My computer which has been working fine for about nine moths shut down the other day when it was playing MP3's. I tried rebooting and got the no signal cable, shut down, etc. I tried to boot again and nothing. I tried another monitor and nothing. I bought a new video card and nothing, so I tried the video card on another PC and it worked fine. I also reset the cmos at the video card manufactureres suggestion.
I have since talked to my motherboard customer support and I have disconnected all my devices and tried to boot and I get no beeps. He said it could still be my processor with no beeps, but I can send in my motherboard.
What are the odds that it is my processor and not my motherboard.
Thanks,
John

Welcome to the forum!
hard to say really....it is hard to narrow it down between the motherboard and cpu unless you have another working setup to try the cpu on.
have you thought about the power supply??
are you getting ANY lights etc??
you can take the atx connector coming from the power supply to the motherboard off of the motherboard....disconnect all the power supply cords from the drives etc....then take a paper clip and bend it and connect the green and any black wire of the big power supply connector.....leave a fan or maybe one hard drive plugged in....if the power supply doesnt come on when you short the green and black wires togetehr with the paper clip..then the power supply is dead.
Power supplies die much more often that boards and cpus.

also you can look at the board and see if it has any swollen capacitors

Well it powers on fine and lights up, the fan on the processor is running too. So I didn't think it would be a problem with the power supply.

got any friends who tinder with comps...all you need to do is see if it boots with a spare cpu
outside possibility that it could still be the psu if it is missing just one certain voltage....like maybe the 3.3v but I am just guessing"Even a fool is thought to be wise if he is silent"

Don't expect SSD performance though. The bandwidth available to and the read/write capabilities of an SD card pale in comparison to a real SSD on an ATA connection.
