| New motherboard boot problem
Im tryin to install my new motherboard, L4VXA2 is the boardname, tryin to use a P4 2.8ghz, running XP home. Whenever i try and boot, it will get past the memory check, and then the screen goes black, sometimes with a grey line. I think it might have something to do with my video card, Xtasy 9200 256mb PCI. if anybody can help me out here it would be great. |

I would try a different video card first..any kind of old video card will do.
Second, I would try a different monitor... I think probably your problem is one or the other. |

sometimes you need to read the manual that came along with the motherboard. |

How's things in S.C.?
Moof is trying to install a new mobo on an existing system, running XP. I'm pretty sure his problem is NOT the video card or the monitor....
Moof,
What mobo are you attempting to replace? XP is not as simple to move to a new mobo as W9x was... especially if you are changing mobo chipsets (e.g., Via-->nForce)

Viola! Does this work with XP systems? Pull plug while in the middle of a logon session? Curious... never heard of this before.... |

Well, maybe I really need to stop commenting on problems that deal with Winxp. I do not have this OS, and do not plan to use it anytime in the foreseeable future.
Apparently, from what you are saying, XP has video control before the OS is even loaded?..
Maybe I should just backup 15 and punt!...I understand power supplies, electronics in general etc., but Operating Systems are not one of my better points, LOL...
Your comments were received in the manner they were given...helpfull, and tactfull...thanks! |
