Dell Inspiron 1100 boot problems

laptop. when powered on it says no OS installed. If i go into the bios via F2 then come out it then boots. any ideas? or help much is appreciated

have you got a cd or floppy inserted when this happens?

you didn't say which os you are using. back up your data and performing an fdisk /mbr (win 95/98/me) or fixmbr (win xp/2000) may be helpful. you'd have to check the fixmbr thing, i've never used it, so don't know if that's the correct form or if it needs command line switches.

a remote possibilty is the cmos battery on the motherboard is getting low

ive flashed the bios and this has fixed the problem, thanks for the suggestions guys
