How can you tell if a PSU can handle SATA?

I'm reading about a HDD and it says "Drive Only, accepts power from both industry-standard and new SATA power supplies."

In the specs it has "This drive has two power connectors, 1 for SATA power, and 1 for regular power."

Do both have to have power, or just one or the other?

Will the 420W PSU in a Raidmax Scorpio-868 work?

just one has to be powered. any power supply will work as long as it has enough power to deliver to it (i.e. not running a new fx6800 on a 200watt PS ). The basic idea is that they wanted a new power standard for the SATA drives cause i'm guess they didn't like the color of the plug (at least that's all i can figure out ) but all manufacturers except for seagate still put an old standard plug on it too. you can actually get a standard power to SATA adapter. i know cause i had to get one for my seagate sata drive.

Sounds like I'll be all right then. Using the standard 420W PSU in a RaidMAX Scropio-868 should do fine w/ a WD 80GB SATA drive.
