Monitor Picture Expands (Acer AC711)
Hiyas,
When I turn on my computer, the start bar is half out of view, its sunk down the screen. After about half an hour it slowly rises back up so the start bar can be seen in full view. then if the computer goes into standby and i come back an hour later, the same thing has happened, the start bar has sunk to where it was when i first turned the computer on.
has anyone seen this happen? any one know how to fix it?
I am thinking about taking to monitor back but i want to see if i can fix it first.
I hope you guys know what i am talking about.
Also I am running the screen at 85hz 1024*768 with Windows xp

This sounds definately like a monitor fault not your pc. Being an ex tv/vcr engineer this is a fimiliar sounding frame fault in your monitor. Its very likely a capacitor around the frame ic as when its cold the fault is there but as it warms up it corrects itself (thermal fault) if your unsure then i deffinately do not advise you to attempt to repair yourself - take it to a reputable dealer and explain the symptoms. Voltages in any CRT monitor can exceed 20,000volts and CAN KILL!!! Be aware ok. Good Luck

I would certainly suggest trying a different monitor on it and see if it does the same thing.

Well, I guess it's OK then. Both sides do it. Move along now, nothing to see here... And don't complain when an election is stolen. Both sides do it.
