| Computer stuck at boot screen!
I just installed a new NvidiaFX5900XT and a Soundblaster audigy 2 ZS, but when I turn on the computer it freezes at the normal bios bootscreen.
It doesn't respond to any of the keys either.
The only thing I did out of the ordinary was I reformated my HD, then turned off my computer when I was presented with the windowx XP installation screen, installed the new cards, and booted the machine to see this. |

Have you tried to reformat again? It would have been best to install the cards first before the install of xp...even though you would have had to install drivers when xp was sorted.
Try format again now the cards are in the slots, it will ask for the drivers later.

The only explaination I can think of is that the magnetically charged PCI screw I dropped on to the mobo fried it with static electricity. |

not sure why you you reformatted before installing the new hardware, but having done so then did you reinstall windows?
if not then it seems likely that u need to do just that, ie boot from your windows cd do a full install, and then install your new hardware. you will be given the option to reformat during windows installation.

How am I suppose to boot from the windows CD now? I can't do anything. I can't even get into the bios options by pressing delete like I normally would.
It appears as though the mobo itself malfunctioned. |

Try resetting the bios...use the jumper to reset or take battery out for a few seconds.

pull the cards back out and re-seat them also clear the cmos. change all your bios setting to whatever your configuration should be then reboot using your xp cd and do a format and reinstall.
btw reformatting wouldn't cause your comp to freeze at the bios page |

How do I clear the cmos? I don't even know what that is
I can't change my bio settings at this point because it freezes before I am able to activate the bios settings screen. |

There will either be a jumper normally somewhere near the battery on the board or you can take the cmos battery out and leave it out for a few mins. once this happens all your bios setting will be reset and you'll have to go into the bios and reset them all. |
