Internet Explorer: "explorer has caused an error in urlmon.dll will now close"

When i go on the internet the error message comes up "explorer has caused an error in urlmon.dll" and then it closes off.

I looked around the microsoft site found the registry thing where it says it might be a program conflict in a certain part of the registry, so i looked there, no problem wasnt there. So i reinstalled internet explorer 3 times. Tryed to repair it using the repair tool it comes with. And i was going to replace the dll file but the one i downloaded was an older version.

Any ideas? im close to losing all faith in microsoft.

the explorer it is refering to is not internet explorer but wihdows explorer....its what powers the desktop, taskbar, and the "my computer' window

what version of windows is this and do you have the real cd or a companys restore cd...you should try a repair install of windows if you can

you might try replacing the dll first all that it is older means is that the installation they got it frome was done before yours was

Keep all your anti-virus up to date and keep your firewall enabled to prevent hacking - Try Zone alarms - it works great for me good luck

He does mean Internet Explorer, not Windows Explorer. urlmon.dll is a component for Internet Explorer and that is where the error is originating.
