Black screen after windows xp loading screen

I am having trouble with my home built AMD 1.3 (win xp professional). I installed a PCTV card and following installation it asked if I wanted to restart my computer or wait (I choose wait). I decided to run a spy sweeper prior to restarting, then once it was complete it also prompted me that my system needed restarting to remove spyware exe's. I then restarted my computer. The computer booted, but after the "Windows Xp Professional (with the loading bar) sceen" my desktop did not load and the screen remains black. I then removed the PCTV card and tried to start my system in safemode. The loaded drivers appear on the screen as they load, but when amdagp.sys appears the loading stops and the system is frozen. My winxp cd is at home (away for the summer), so I haven't tried restoring. Any suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated.

Go into your BIOS and load your "Optimized Defaults" should clear up your problem.

Setting my bios to "Optimized Defaults" didn't help. Thanks for the suggestion, any others would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I can pick up my winxp cd this weekend.
