| ABIT NF7 not detecting drives
ok..... my computer was not detecting the cd drive although it was not such a big prob because a bit of playin with the wires and it was sorted.. so yesterday i though i would take off the case and sort out the wiers. whilst the case was off i thought i would sork out the wiers for my lights and fans. this ment that i wan to swich on the computer to make sure wot i just pluged in worked and then swich it off to do sumthing else. i made sure all the wiers ar in correctly and whent to start the computer up. it loads the bios but then says verifiny DMI pool data and then please insert system disk. so at first i though that it wasnt detcting the HDD so i reboted and entered the bios and sure e nuf it isnt finding the HDD or the CD drive. like i said the bios is working so i dont think it is the mobo has my HDD and CD rom all gone at once the CD dirive is about 7 yrs old n e way but the HDD is only about 4 months.

When you were sorting your wires could you have accidentally bumped one of the IDE cables?

perhaps you hit the jumpers and now the bios is booting to the cd first. |

on that mobo theres a search for drive function in the bios....also disconnect the power from the drives and use a fan maybe to test if there is power going to the lead.... |

I would check the IDE cables. Make sure they are inserted all the way. Also if the drives were set to "cable select" and you moved the IDE cables from their proper positions it may be trying to boot to the cd -rom. Additionally you could have introduced an error into the bios. Unplug the pc from the wall socket and pull the mobo battery and clear the bios with the jumper. Pull the jumper and wait a couple minutes before replacing. |

Hope you aren't working on shaggy rug or carpet of some sort. With all that in and out and power on and off, my first thought was of static electricity. I usually keep a hand on the power supply while moving things around. You probably already know this stuff.
Good Luck with the lights and mods! (I read your thread) |
