I have a DVD-ROM drive with the standard win drivers that will not recognize a disc. It will spin for a few minutes but when it stops, nothing registers on the drive icon. If I try to open it, it tells me to insert a disc. This happened to me years ago but that computer was really old. I don't even think this drive is two years old. That one I cleaned the lens and it worked fine. I just got done with the lens on this one and nothing changed. Any ideas?
[Edit: I tried a mastered DVD and that started right up. ]
My other drive, TDK CD Burner, reads just fine but when I try to burn a music disc with the Nero software, there will be tracks that don't work. When the player comes to the track, it just resets to the beginning of the disc. I have tried different players and different media. The only player that will completely read the disc is the burner.
Any ideas on either of these?
Thanks!

just out of curiousity do you have nero's "InCD" installed? if it is and it is starting at startup I would run msconfig and turn it off...it causes weird probs like that sometimes.

I have Nero Express. I downloaded the most recent version just a couple days ago. I do not have InCD. I checked msconfig just in case, and I didn't see anything.
