Hey New here and was wondering..

    I have a
    1Ghz Amd T-Bird
    Asus A7v Motherboard (via 4in1 4.37 drivers)(bios version 1007)
Visiontek Geforce 3 (nvidia 23.11 drivers)
    512mb pc133 memory
    30gb IBM deskstar 7200rpm
    Windows XP Pro

My MadOnion 2001 score was 5141 i was curious is this sound about right or is there anything to do besides over clock my system to up my score any?

I do know i can flash the bios up to 1009 but was also wondering which you guys found in the better bios's for this motherboard.

Also, I'm a Unreal Tournament Addict and the maps i play get about 40 to 50 fps i can't get any more than that but is there anything to do, my tnt2 got about that in 16bit texture mode and the only advantage to my Geforce 3 is that i can get 32bit texture mode

I posted this here because alot of you guys sound like you have Knowledge and was hoping you could help me out.

also For you Unreal Tournament people check out www.utgmc.com

    Thanks ++Whiz++

I'd think you should be able to do that for your unreal. Although if I'm not mistaken unreal used the glide engine, not sure how well that works under nvidia as that was 3dfx's baby.

Personally I've had bad luck with the 23.11 dets, my 3dmark2001 score dropped in half. I went back to 21.83 and it doubled from 23.11 lol

    Hi dude

The scores that you have seems to be right ... getting a 50-60FPS in unreal tounament @32bit is something considered nice, especially on higher resolution ...

Now you can do few tweaks to enhance UT by itself ... going to the following link should give you nice tweak tips ... http://www.3dspotlight.com/tweaks/ut/index.shtml

Also remember that UT is always bottel necked by CPU power not the video card itself .. i saw many systems with the same CPU score about the same if using GF2 or GF3 or ATI ...

If you want to get higher frams per second (which i see no reason for, as you have nice ver playable numbers), you could overclock your machine ... and get few FPS more ...

Getting the right drivers for your card will give you a nice boost... i don`t know about your OS but 22.50 drivers gave my GF2 few points and FPS on my winXP Pro machine ...

PS. You have big memory amount so you might as well minimize the usage of your swapfiles ...

    Regards and Welcome to TechIMO

    Welcome to TechIMO

The 1009 bios with the Promise controller build 40 is very slow at boot up. I used it for a short time and switched both mine and my nephew’s over to the "1009e" because it uses the build 35-promise controller and boot time is noticeable reduced. I don't game so I don't know what effect if any it would have as far as that goes .....

    Hope this helps......

    Thanks Guys

Thanks for your help Ive been messing around with it and found the riva tuner ive tweaked it alittle and also over clocked the video memory alittle but so far the most ive been able to get is 5197 so im gettin somewhere guess ill have to keep playing with it and for the drivers that work best with me is the 23.11 i put the 21.83 and it dropped my score to about 4860 or something around there. i may try a bios update im not to sure on that tho just have to see what people think about the Asus A7V Latest Bios...

Thanks Again guys, you guys will be seeing me more around here atleast some

I am running the A7V with BIOS 1009. I did not notice any difference in speed from BIOS 1008. But, when i did the flash, by computer would not boot. I have read that alot of people had this problem when upgrading to 1009. I did get it working again and i am still on 1009. So be carefull when going to 1009 if you decide to go that way. Good luck.
