Question
registering no disc in drive, Help???

We have recently installed "power DVD program" it keeps telling us there is no disc in the D drive, when there is. We have searched through everything we can possibly think of and can't seem to find the problem, and why the disc is not registering. Has anyone any suggestions as what to do to get this thing to register a dvd.

does the drive make a lot of noise (sounding like a jet at take off, or a vacuum cleaner) when you insert a disk? if so, the drive is having problems reading dvd disks. is the dvd an original pressed disk or one done in a dvd writer? dvd r disks may not be recognised by your drive or not written properly.

Lets start from scratch.. Will the drive recognize ANY other disk?...CD or DVD?...if it will recognize some but not all, tell us if the ones it will read are commercial stamped disks or the home burned type.

If the DVD drive is a year or two old, it could be laser problems.

If the DVD is fairly new, the problem could be a flaky ribbon cable.
