I having a problem with my friends computer. I am unble to shut it down through the start button. When ever I shut it down the monitor goes off and green light stays on the computer, I than have to shut it off manully by pressing the button.
(windows and me) Can anyone help with this poblem? |

Check you windows power settingss, make sure its not setup to go into hibernation when you shut it down. |

I check and it is not set up to go into hibernation |

Are you hooked up to "automatic update"?
Start/settings/control panel/ automatic updates
If checked, uncheck and then start deleting them one by one from
Start/settings/add & remove programs.
Do one or two a day until you find the culprit, (if that's what it is) note the number of the update so you can chose "remove" when you manually up date through
Start/windows update (online)
Worth a try...

I manually did some updated today. I check and there is no check there. |

right click on desk top then go to screen saver, power options then click on the advanced button and change the ''when i press the off '' thingy to shut down
note- this will only work if u have xp |
