| P.C froze, then nothing....
Hi, i have been searching the internet for the last couple of days, looking for any sites with information on how to fix computers, or diagnosis on the problem, or anything that may help me get my P.C working again. I found this site, and thought its got to be worth a try before i take it to be repaired.
OK, so here is what happened; i was playing a game, when the screen froze. I gave it a few minutes to see if it would sort itself out, but nothing. So i turned it off, and restarted it. The windows logo came up for about a second, then disolved (like when you turn your TV off, the picture fades away). Ever since then i cant get the computer to load, no windows, no bios, nothing, i just get the no signal message on the monitor. I have tested it with another monitor, but still nothing. There was a thunderstorm when the computer froze, but nothing turned off, and i have a circuit breaker/surgemaster to protect against such accurances. My P.C is a reasonably new one, (under a year), with a P4 3000mhz, 512mb ram, 120gb hd.
I doubt i will be able to fix the problem if it turns out to be of a technical nature, as i am not technically gifted, but you never know, any help greatly appreciated on what has happened.
Thanks, |

Hi try to unseat your video card and then reboot again, if the problem persist try to change your video card, it might be fried already, most games make the video card work so hard to the point of frying the whole card, specially if the card has no self fan to cool it off |

I would agree that you should try to reseat your video card, since the no signal text means that the connection from the monitor to the video card to the motherboard is disrupted. If that doesnt fix it, see if you can borrow a video card and try putting it in. A question, is there power going to the motherboard? Are fans running? |

Yes the fan is still humming and i have power , and i tried unseating the video card, but no change. Can you visibily tell if your video card is burnt out? I could not see anything. I have a Radion ATI 9800. I would be somewhat unpleased if it was busted. |

Do you have a second pc? Try putting the ATI into that computer and see if it boots up or if you get the no signal on the montior. |
