| Remote to another computer
i am running windows XP just recentley upgraded from ME, wow what a diff. any ways i noticed that with XP it enables me to remote to another computer, how exaclty does that work ? does the other persons computer have to be on let's say my network or can it be anyone. The reason why i ask is because my mother is new computer users and often has problems, she then calls me to assist and i try to explain what she needs to do but sometimes doesn't understand, she isn't to good with technology, so my question is would i be able to remote to her computer if i am in a diff state than she is ? and what would i need from her in order to do this ? any help would be great
thanks,
mike |

for the remote desktop she will need to have xp pro
of course saying that there are many solutions for remote access to other operating systems
tightVNC/VNC (free and i dont know about security for this prog)
PCanywhere (By Symantec, i wouldnt suggest this one)
Radmin (i use this one and it seems the fastest i reccomend it)
Dameware Utilities (Has the ability to install a service remotely to enable remote desktop on any win2k/xp machine if you have the right user name and password . This is alittle bit slow but fun to play with)
remember if you enable remote access to any machine outside your network is to protect it as much as possible. that is why i suggest Radmin ( http://www.radmin.com/) they have it so you can try it out for a month i believe |

File Name : DNTUS26.exe42
Threat Name : Remacc.Dwremote
I can't delete or remove it when i click on the file name it says :
The compressed file DNTUS26.exe42 within ?????? within C:\Documents and Settings\Miko\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\AHK7S9I5\DNTUW[1].MSI is a Remote access threat
I tried safe mode, it didn't work, i followed C:\Documents and Settings\Miko\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\AHK7S9I5\DNTUW[1].MSI, however i cannot find folder Content.IE5 or anything after that AHK7S9I5\DNTUW[1].MSI

Why does everyone say it has to be XP Pro in order to remote to another PC? My dad and I both have the Home version and I've remote accessed his PC and he mine.
