I have a Biostar M7VIT Bravo MB, 128MB od DDR PC2700-N memory and a AMD Athlon XP 2500+ 333mhz CPU.
Problem: I press the power button and I get the Biostar splash screen and then 1 to 3 seconds later it shuts off. I have to press and hold the power button and then press it again to turn it back on. Or unplug it for a few seconds and then turn it back on. However, it does the same thing.
What next?
Thanks in advance. |

did you try upgrading the BIOS? never heard of this, sounds like a power or heat issue

do you have another power supply you can try?
in the bios there are different settings for the behavior of the power switch...do you know how it is set there?

also check to see if the CPU fan monitor is off, if the monitor thinks the fan is going too slow it'll automatically turn off |

How many seconds from the time you first began until shutdown?
Try beginning the boot process and within maybe 2 seconds, hit the pause key on the keboard...freezing the boot process right there...see if it will shutdown anyway or just sit there with the BIOS detection screen frozen...hit enter to proceed or turn off to start over. |

any lightning storms recently?? sometimes a blown/shorted modem can do similar things
sometimes you have to strip out most of the parts to check it out...
for instance boot with the cpu/heatsink..one stick of ram..vid card ..hard drive..see what it does etc |

6 seconds from power on to shut down.
I hit the pause break button and it still shuts off.
I have stripped down to hard drive, 1 DDR mem module and video card. Still same. |
