| Stuck at Windows XP login
I got a PC running windows XP Home with SP1. When I get to the login screen the box to enter the user name and password comes up but it wont allow me to enter anything. The cursor blinks on and off but when I try to enter the user
name and password I hear a beep but nothing gets typed in the box.
I have tried it in safe mode and get the same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I know this may sound ignorant but it is a legal copy right? I only ask cause alot of people who downloaded XP complained of the same thing. |

Thanks for the responses.
The copy of Windows is a legal copy that I bought from Newegg.
Everything was normal and then one day when I tried to log in, it wouldn't let me enter the user name and password. It was set up to use the welcome screen login when it first happened and I switched to the classic style login screen with the same results.
I tried Ctrl+Alt+Del but nothing happens. I am going to try another keyboard soon as I get a chance. |

Did you do Ctrl + Alt + Del TWICE? nothing will happen if you do it once. |

I am almost sure it has nothing to do with Windows itself.
This is probably a hardware issue, and now regarding the keyboard.
Easiest thing to do to be sure if it is the keyboard or not that is causing this is to use another one instead.

Tried another keyboard and it fixed the problem. Seems strange that it would quit working so suddenly.
Thanks for all the help. |
