Doom 3
Well i just went out and purchesed doom3 today, after installing it it said "1628 failed to complete install." and i can't get it to play or uninstall, only way for me to reinstall is by the cd (i think) or hack my registery.
System specs:
Asus A7N8X (not deluxe)
BBA Radeon 9600xt
2500+ barton @ 2.2ghz
512mb of GEIL ram (2x256 in duel channel)

Quick thoughts...do you have admin rights?
Is your Windows Installer up to date/good to go?

I did try to reinstall a few times and no success, yes I have admin rights but im not completely sure about windows installer. I did go to the windows update page and got the latest things, so I will try to reinstall again.

What OS? You may have to hit the registry...
This link gives an example of how to do it with a different program, but I'm sure it can't be that much different than doing it for Doom 3...well, I'm not positive, but it's a start. You will look in the same registry location to remove Doom 3 installer leftovers, but you'll have to look through each string to find it.

Running Windwos XP. The install didn't work again so im gonna delete my doom3 directory and hack the registery. Also theres no screen shots of doom3 while its installing, just black.

I've tried that page and no luck, it says that with Windows XP that it already comes with windows installer version 2.0.

do you have the latest directx 9.0b?
you can run start --> run 'dxdiag' to find out.Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.

Yes i've deleted everything in the temp folder.

Well my brother got it working, but there are still major issures witht his game. For one theres no sound in this and two the game crashes aftering getting scanned.
