| Doom 3 Graphic Corruption
I'm having major graphic corruption with Doom 3. Main Menu Gameplay
Specs:
AMD XP+ 3200 on Gigabyte 7N-400L (nForce 2) with latest nForce Drivers
1 GB PC2100 DDR RAM
ASUS ATI Radeon 9800 256 Pro softmodded to XT
Catalyst 4.9 Beta Drivers (Did the same thing with 4.7)
I turned off Fast Write, Write Combine, and reduced AGP to 4X according to this but that didn't help.
I noticed that after restarting the pooter after making changes to above settings that it wasn't as bad at first, but got worse as I played. Could that mean that this is a heat issue?
As far as I've been told in the past, I have sufficient cooling and I have no problems with any other game.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance. |

does this happen in any other game? also what are your graphics card temps when you're playing? it looks like it could be heat, but if it is then you should see this in other games too. It could also be a problem with the softmod you did. Also i've heard that some ati cards don't get along well with the nforce2. If worse comes to worse you could flash your motherboard bios.
EDIT: how did you get those pictures? if you did a screenshot then it's not a hardware issue because the screenshot is processed before video output (i.e. it's a software issue). |

The game itself runs fine. No choppiness or lag of any kind. Just white dots everywhere. When it gets really bad, you can make out a pattern of squares connected by their corners. You can see this somewhat in the gameplay picture.
Thanks for the quick responses. I am very anxious to play the game. |

try goin back to the 9800pro... try some old drivers like 4.5 or older if u can find them that would just be a temporary solution or u can return the card if none of that works

It's not a heat problem or a hardware problem of any sort. I'd also recommend following nwo's advice. Here it is presented in readable english, as a service to the community (since Out's not here ). At least all the softmod helps I've read say that if you mod with wrong bios, it will cause artifacts.
So, as previously said, I third rolling back on the mod. |

| That would be much appreciated. Also it would keep you from looking like a stupid 1337 8 year old. I mean no offense because i know you're actually quite smart, it's just when you talk like that it makes you sound really stupid. Besides...it's a whole 14 letters. That takes maybe 10 seconds so it doesn't really take any more time.
Anyways, getting back on topic. I'm starting to question whether it's the softmod or not. You took that shot from within windows...so the artifacts you are seeing are present before the information is sent to the graphics card to be processed. What color depth do you have your desktop set to? Also, what software do you have running in the background (Specifically any graphics-related stuff).
