Question
HELP!!! My word pad won't work....

undefinedundefinedundefined
It's me again. Last night ran the spybot. Fixed my computer, so I can now you Internet explorer. But my word pad won't work. I tried to you it and it came up with nothing on it, except performed illegal operation. Could the scan last night possibly have messed with it??? Confused.

you have windows98 right?

ok, you should have a program called "sfc" (unless its windows 98 FIRST edition then u might not have it)

go to the start button...run...type in "sfc", hit enter

ok, there are two things I would do if I were you (I read some of the other posts of yours)

first it says "scan for altered files"...so check that and click "start"....then it will search for altered files and then let you restore any from windows98 disk.....(ignore "setupx.dll" cuz it always finds that)...if u restore a file and it asks about saving the old one just click "yes" to whatever it asks)

ok, next....try to restore wordpad ----at the bottom half of sfc it says "extract one file from installation disk...so you choose that then you type in ""C:\Program Files\Accessories\WORDPAD.EXE" in the blank space....then when it asks you where to restore FROM you browse to your w98 disk.

To keep things from getting confusing, try to please keep it to one thread per topic. Thanks!
