AC connecter replaced - Still won't boot! Help!

Alright, I have an HP Pavillion ZE1000. The AC connector on the back broke
loose, so I dished out $20 bucks for a new connector. Soldered it on, put
everything back together and.......nothing. No led lights, fans, nothing. I'm
stuck. Could it be that the battery is bad? Could the CPU have gotten burned up
when the AC jack broke? Is the motherboard junk? Or am I missing something?
I'm fairly new to soldering but I don't think thats the issue. Please help me out!
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

-Matt

I would suspect that a track near the socket has been broken and will need to be bridged with a piece of tinned wire. The break in a track can be near invisible so it might be best to trace down the break with a voltmeter. You will probably have to remove some varnish to expose the tracks.

If you are only a novice at this sort of work I would suggest you find a pal who has more experience to look at it.

hope this helps .. Barry

Thanks! That sounds accurate. I'm not a novice but I'm not a genius either. I'll take it apart again and see what I can figure out. Fun fun fun! (notice the sarcasm)
