cant detect cd drives

under my computer, there's no cd-rom drives. i have 2 cd-rom drives plugged in, though. under device manager, though, win2000 pro says i have my 2 cd drives. but it also has an unknown device called "generic dvd-rom scsi cdrom device." i do not have a dvd rom device. i try to uninstall and disable it, thinking its conflicting with my other drives, but my computer still doesn't detect them. help...

Did you just recently install these drives? Have you just built this system? If so, try messing with the jumpers. If they are not in the correct spots it could make the drives not show up
