Is there a way to protect 2 computers connected on a home small office network with one anti-virus program? I was going to use Norton Utilities 2004 and they're connected with each other and the Internet via a MS Wired Router. |

Try Avast http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
I have it on both computers. Its free!
Free avast! 4 Home Edition
avast! 4 Home Edition is a full-featured antivirus package designed exclusively for home users, non-commercial users. Both conditions should be met! Our company offers Home Edition free of charge, since in our opinion, it is possible to avoid global virus spreading by efficient prevention; however, many user are not able or do not want to pay for antivirus software. This page will show you the most important features of this program. |

Its NOT possible to have 1 AV program that's installed on #1 also run on #2. You'll have to install it on both

You'll have to install it on both | The answer is yes and no... you can use an AV installed on one PC to include scans of the mapped/shared drives on a second PC, but the AV "autoprotect function" (e.g., when running executables/scripts, etc., and email scans) will not work on the second PC.

I downloaded the Avast protection and files were alerted as viruses in my c:\windows and c:\windows\system32 folders. I attempted to "repair" one and it gave me an error. Should I try "moving" them or just "deleting" them? some are *.exe and others are *.dll. Is it safe to delete them? Thank you! |

I find it best to scan on reboot and default to remove without prompting. |

There is no "remove" are you referring to "delete" or "move" ? ..and either way, is it possible that these are system files that have been corrupted?
I don't want to mess up my computer, that's why I'm asking specifically about the ones in those folders. Normally, the other ones I wouldn't blink at deleting automatically. Thanks! |
