OK, I've been having weird problems with this one machine (WinMe on a KT7A-RAID with Kingston KVR133/256 Value Ram. The way it's been acting I figure it's the RAM or a power supply. The RAM and P/S(Allied AL-A400ATX) are both new so I decided to run Memtest86 to be sure of the RAM. How long is this stupid thing supposed to run? Wall(?) time is listed as almost 40 hours and it's still going with no errors. How long is it supposed to run before it's a done deal? I don't understand this thing at all. |

memtest86 will continue looping until you stop it. If I remember correctly it runs thru 8 tests then it will start over. |

Roger that. If it's been running for 40 hours with no problems, then your memory is fine.

Same machine and it's driving me batty! I've re-installed the OS (Me) and it still comes up with registry errors and Windows protection screens. Even during the OS re-install I was getting blue screens which led me to believe a memory malfunction. As mentioned above, the power supply is new as virtually every component is. I'm beginning to suspect the motherboard (KT7A-RAID) as the culprit. And I've had it with Abit anyway. I've bought many of their boards and had nothing but problems with them.
Any suggestions? TIA
PS I've also run the Maxtor HDD re-certification utility and it checks out OK..., but I'm not 100% convinced.

I been running memtest, so from this thread i understand that it only runs 8 test then restarts over again. so if that the case then i would want to exit. now my question does it give me a log of the errors? I have errors here and not sure what to do at this point.
So what does one do when errors and found? This is second time run test, ran the test with both sticks and then was told to stop that test and take a stick out which i did and run the test again. so find errors. But im at a loss of what to do now.
This first time using memtest86 |

Well Im running it with the second stick now, it appears that all errors are only in the Test 5 area. Still don't know what to do. So at least I know which test it is now. |

Well, as I see it you have one of two options: either repair the memory stick or replace it. I'm not exactly sure how to repair RAM.
