Hi, I'm a bit of a techno peasant so please forgive anything dumb i write :-) I recently had to fdisk and reinstall win98 second edition on my computer. Details of computer : award modular bios v4.51pg, Asus p5a-B acpi bios revision 1008, amd-k6-2/500 processor and nvidia riva tnt2 model 64 bios v2.05.13a video card, 40 gig maxtor hd and 324 MB Ram.
Once win98 was installed and video card was installed using original disk, I installed Everquest and went to play, it warned me that I needed a better driver for my video card and so I followed their advice and updated my driver from the nvidia site to the 56.64 they recommended. My monitor is very very old, it only really looks good in 640 x 480 any other size is too small to read/see clearly so thats the size I always have it on. When I restarted EQ (and checked the options it said I was in 640 x 480) but when the game loaded it changed my size to hmmm 800 x 600 or something. I also did a dxdiag and the agp texture acceleration is greyed out. Through trying to hunt down my problems I have done/tried many many things, not the least of which is toggle stuff in my bios whilst following some steps on how to install my driver properly. Do you have any idea why the agp texture acceleration is greyed out and if that could be related to the resizing of my screen? Or why this is happening? Or if there is a more suitable driver for me? I think the only difference between before and after my fdisking is I had previously (long time ago ) changed my vid card driver (alas i dont remember to what though) and I also upgraded to directx 9 with the reinstall.
thanks for reading this :-)
