490CTD dead-flashing power light
Just inherited this Toshiba and it works great...until I switch it off then for hours and sometimes days it refuses to boot. No display, no anything except that the power light flashes. Tried reset, tried it on battery only, tried without battery and a different one...same thing. Win 98 CD/Floppy 4M HD. When the AC is removed the light stillt keeps flashing and the only way to make it steady is to disconnect the battery for a second. I am pretty good with desktops but have never attacked a laptop yet. Before I tear it apart...any advice?

Same flashing power light
I have the identical problem with a 305CDS. Did you ever find out what to do?

To tell you the truth I have to leave for Indonesia for a month and so put it on the back burner so to speak because I have decided to take it with me and fix it there while I am relaxing. However I will be happy to let you know the result. Having taken a quick look I kind of suspect that it is a filter capacitor in the internal power supply but I will let you know exactly in the next week or so

Thanks for quick reply. I am not much of a techie, but will be interested to hear what you find. Good Luck.
