| Computer turns on for second and turns off
HI there. My computer was working great last night. Then it froze up, so, I turned it off and went to bed. The next morning, I (attempted) turned it on, and it came on for probably half a second, and turns off.
Motherboard is an AOpen AX4B-533.
I've tried removing all the cards, so, it's just down to the motherboard and power supply, and still does the same thing. If I keep hitting the power switch over and over it'll start up, and the fans run, but that's about it. The fans run, but it won't even make a beep or get a display. Nothing Works. I've also tried resetting the CMOS using the jumper. I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions appreciated. |

You wouldn't happen to have any motherboards or power supplies lying around in your home would you?
When this kind of stuff happens, you gotta use the method of trial-and-error. Replace one thing, see if it works, remove the other ect.
And may I suggest looking at similar threads

I would bet either power supply or swollen caps on the motherboard. Look at the motherboard for any signs of burning or swollen/leaking capacitors.

This almost sounds like a case of discharged capacitors in the power supply. The fans spin for a second then turn off, and the faster you hit the power switch, the shorter the spin. Normally this is cured with a few hours of being plugged in but turned off though, so i'm not so certain. |
