| LAN Connected, not receiving packets?
My LAN says it is connected at 100mbps, however i am unable to access the internet or use aol etc. It is sending packets of information but it isn't receiving any at all. When i go to support it gives me an ip adress and a subnet mask but no default gateway. Under adress type it says automatic private ip address, but it should say assigned by dhcp. I have no idea what is going on and i am thouroughly mad. I just need to know how to get my adress type back to assigned by dhcp. I am running xp and i am connected straight into the cable modem which has been confirmed as working properly. Please help me |

Try deleting the network conection, then reboot, then make a new one.

Currently it is plugged in directly to the modem, i have tried resetting the registry according to tcp settings, i don't really know how this happened just all of the sudden i woke up one morning and my settings were amuck. Anyways, i tried deleting the connection and it wouldn't allow me to do this. I can't understand why it is only sending and not receiving. I can't figure out why under type it says automatic private ip adress and not assigned by dhcp. Thanks |

On your computer go to:
Start>Run
type: ipconfig /release (press enter after typing)
type: ipconfig /renew (press enter after typing)
type: ipconfig
Then copy and paste the results here.

If XP, I would boot from the XP disc and choose "Repair " and hope it would straighten out your registry. Something sounds amiss.

I had the same problem. First clear everything out of which ever browser you use. Then click start, control panel, network and internet connections, network connections, right click on LAN, click repair. Power cycle the modem before you hook it back up to your system also. Did you happen to install XP2? I had this problem 3 times with the update before it finally took. Worse comes to worse, there is always System Restore. |
