You might want to edit certain words from your post.
Does the volume gradually drop, or it's low from the beginning?
What program do you use? |

Drops all of a sudden... then somehow creeps back up... it's intermittent... does it on 2 programs that I use. I'm using Intervideo WinDVD 5. It's irritating because I like playing ACDC loud and stuff :P |

Hehe.
I was like wth when I used windvd5 and suddenly my middlechannel (in DD mode) lost all sound making the movie insta mute-film.
Turned out to be that I had the cable connected loosely, and it lost contact every now and then.
So, it could be bad cabling, or it could be audio filter you're using (either windvd's audio filter or perhaps ac3).
Try an alternate program, preferrably one that has internal codecs like vlc ( www.videolan.org) |

what is this perticular cd and dvd like when playing through a normal stand alon dvd/cd player, I always find it better using a dvdrom to view dvd and cd media, keep the burner for 1 purpose only burning diosc's not playingthem, what type of hoookup to your sound system, analog/co-ax digital/optical digital..
to rectify any problem you got update audio for our soundcard, playing music continuesly loud will shorten the life of the speakers, if you start hearing whistling & pops during playback it time to get speakers replaced.....
this statement refers to any problem you may have in the future...

Nah, sound system's fine... I can play any mp3s fine... I have 5.1 Surround. I play my music high, but I got speakers that can handle it (100w RMS each) so yeah. It's a normal analogue input and the drivers are fully updated. I have used Power DVD before and had the same problem... I'm not gonna bother buyin a DVD ROM as the last one shit itself, and when I play the DVDs on the DVD player in the house, there's no problem. I guess it could be codecs, but I'm not sure where the hell to find em.
Oh well... I guess I'll figure it out soon enough. I can ask the guys here @ work, I'm a Network Support Officer, so there's bound to be some kinda info around here :P |
