Sound cutting out...then...freezing..

A few days ago I lost sound 15 minutes into Mech Commander 2. Then a few minutes later my computer froze. I thought this was just a one-time error, but it happens every time, with various games and programs. I think it might be an overheating problem, so i downloaded speedfan, measured average of 41C for cpu and 37C for mobo. I start the game, and when sound cuts out the cpu is at 48C and mobo at 44C.

ive scanned for viruses, and removed all adware...that i could find

i have a P4S800 mobo with intel 2.8 processor

i know the remedy for overheating but if that isnt the problem then i dont wanna buy extra cooling agents. anybody have any suggestions?

i've got a VERY similar problem, it just freezes!? I've been advised it may be a memory issue (your ram) coz i sed that cpu was 64 deg and they sed even that wasn't too hot. i'm still waitin for reply on how to check memory for errors or faults, maybe someone will put us both outta our misery...oh, and welcome

Looks like your mobo is getting extremely hot.
Open up the side of the case and try and play.
