    Windows ME Problem

    Hi,

I am having problems with a Win ME installed machine that seems to somehow be losing the Audio on some CD's.

It can play music CD's no problem but does not have any audio when W9ndows starts or games are played in the CD Rom Drive.

It used to work perfectly and has just stopped today. The only thing that has been changed in it recently is the install of a PCI Wireless Card.

I do notice that each time the machine is started there is the statement Setup is updating your configuration fileetc. The same mesage you get after you have installed/ uninstalled some software.

Any ideas or should I just go ahead and Format C re install rather than waste a load of time on it.

    Cheers

I assume it worked fine before you installed the new wireless card. If you can , try the wireless card in a different slot.

yep..I bet it is an irq conflict

maybe go into the bios and try 'reset escd'

that will make it reset the irq's when it boots and maybe things will straighten out....or else try it in another slot as pickel said
