Sound Driver?

For some reason I have been having to update my sound driver almost daily for the past month or so. Does anyone know what the cause of this might be?

windows xp, and the driver thing is Realtek AC'97 audio if that helps.

What do you mean update? Reinstall the driver? Or actually get an update from the manufacturer's website?

? Like you boot windows and it says you need to install the driver for new hardware found?

Here's what happens, randomly, my sound will cut out, so i go to Sounds and Audio Devices, then click hardware, then click on the driver, then properties, then driver, and then update driver, then I install from a list or specific location, then don't search, i will choose the driver to install, then next, and then a driver shows up, and i just click next.
