| computer randomly restarts during gameplay
i just recently built a computer with a freind of mine and since i have installed a
couple of games (warcraft 3 frozen throne and lineage 2) warcraft 3 will not only
end up restarting randomly during gameplay but now it sometimes kicks me to the
desktop and says that the progra,m has failed to access memory and is forced to
terminate. other than that with my 2 games it will randomly restart whether it be
5 min or an hour. my comp runs between 80 and 90 degrees fahrenheit and ive
tried running it with my cover off and it doesnt help. i have a new 450 watt power
supply (allied) so i dont think its that. im running one stick of kingston 512 ddr ram
DDR400 CL3 PC3200, VGA ATI radeon 9800pro 128 mb 8x , MB NForce2 A7n8X-E
Delux ASUS, CPU FAN AMD Volcano 10+ A1671, 80 gb maxtor HD, CPU AMD
3000/400 Athlon Xp Barton %. i tried setting my BIOS to default and it doesnt
help at all. it may also help to know that my comp would not recognize my floppy
when it was installed. Ive installed all the latest drivers and such for my video
card. i was told it has something to do with either my memory or motherboard
being faulty but before i go out and buy a new one of either one i would like to be
sure that that is the problem. Im definatley a noob so plz be patient with me and
discriptive as possible. any information will be greatly appreciated.

I'd try to help you but I can't read your post, could you please try using paragraphs? |

Sounds to me like faulty memory. You can download a few apps that will test your memory for you. I believe one of the most popular is called memtest. Just google for "free memory test program" or something similar. That should get you going in the right direction.
Welcome to TechIMO. Pay no attention to voogru, he's cranky sometimes. |

I don't blame you voogru.
A post with a lack of sentence and paragraph structure can be very hard to read. |

"Athlon Xp Barton %"
Overclocked?
Set agp to 4x and cpu to stock or below see if it still happens. |

Tip:
Techimo has auto word wrap. You don't have to hit enter for each line. Pretty sophisticated around here.
Cheers! |
