please help

hi i recently made a post with regard to my dell laptop latitude 266xt and never got any replies.
so here is the problem in short . I turn it on. The green light goes for. the three caps lock light go on(1 sec duration). Nothing comes on the screen. Fan doesnt go either and it turns off. Tried to connect it directly with the adpater w/out battery still didnt work. battery has a full charge (5 lights)
Really confused! please any suggestions will be great!

Also i checked the hardrive and plugged it back again.. seems ok. Still wont go

is the mother board fried?

havnt seen your other post, does it even post on bootup. if it posts then maybe hd problem, if not the maybe memory problem or mb problem.

yeah it doesnt post at all.
I guess it is a memory or motherboard problem

Either that or perhaps the fan died and it's protecting itself because of no fan signal. Just a guess..I don't know much about lappys.

it may be possible that the fan has died. if your laptop is pretty old, then may be.

ok that would be a good possibility. Since it does show a "green light" im assuming that the board isnt fried just yet.
box retailers are going to rip me off so will dell. I will try to find a small electronics shop to get it repird, or ask for the problem upfront by the elec expert.
