Hi
I am helping a friend with her new computer. It is a really compact desktop design that opens like a clamshell. I went to install a PCI type wireless card but it doesn't fit in the expansion card slot because 1) it is too tall for the case and 2) the bus connector on the mobo isn't PCI. It's not ISA either (and wouldn't be as this is a brand new computer). The connector on the motherboard is black and has two "keys' in it.
Anyone know what this bus is? Thanks in advance.

Maybe a riser card that that has PCI expantion slots. Are the Expantion slots in the back at right angles to it or going the same way? |

Spooky
The PCIe article doesnt illustrate the connection, I get the impression that PCIe and PCI have the same connection.

It's not a riser - the slots in the back of the case are normally oriented reative to the motherboard. |

It turns out that you were correct. The mobo has two expansion slots, 1 a PCIe x1 (32 pins), and 1 a PCIe x16 (164 pins). The fact that the headroom for an expansion card is about 1/2 to 2/3rds what is noramlly available may have only to do with the case design and not the bus - though I've never seen a PCIe card so I don't really know.
Thanks for the suggestions and have a happy holiday!
