well you could change your theme, if thats what you mean...

To change the start word you need a hex editor and you have to modify windows. Wouldnt recommend if you are a newbie to the computer world.

All you need is a program like Style XP. lol, wtf are you talking about?

Yes, you need to be proficient in 10 years of C++ programming, java, and html. I wouldn't recommend changing ANYTHING unless you are 1337 and can reformat windows in under 10 secs. You'll definately need to know how to reinstall Solitaire should you delete it.

Another vote for tClock here - You can even make your own buttons and use them for the Start menu.
