| Friends computer won't boot up.
The problem here is that when we turn on my friends comp, K7 Triton series mobo running windows XP Pro, the bios won't load up. The lights are on, but so is the red (hdd?) light stays on. Monitor works fine, video cards works fine (from what I can tell). It does start the bootup process, and we get no beeps. Tried shutting off the powersupply for the night but that didn't work. My first thought is that the powersupply might not be working all that great, since I think it's a generic one that came with the case. But I could be wrong.
Another problem with the same computer - He is using an optical mouse, but for some reason the mouse won't work while connected to USB. Works fine on PS/2. Device Manager says that all of the ports are working fine (except the front 2, which aren't connected). Other deviced (Game pad) do seem to work fine. Can anyone help with these problems? |

So you are not even getting a bios screen?
disconnect the HD power connector and see what happens when you power up |

For some reason now, it is booting up. I had this same (similar, anyway) problem with my own computer, and the only way to boot it up was to turn the powersupply off and back on really fast. Did that here a few times and it worked. (I bought a new power supply on my computer) Got into the BIOS, and the power levels looked a little low, but alright. Again, my first thought is that it would need a new powersupply (AGI 300), but I still could be wrong. |

Low levels on the PS could mean its at the threshold of its output capability or its going south. If the voltages are down a volt or two Id go ahead and change it. |

Kinda figured as much.
Any idea about that mouse problem? It's not really a problem, so much as an inconvenience. |

Reinstall drivers for it .I found out I had to reinstall video driver for my Nvidia card because it cut off usb2 after doing a repair on my XP. |
