Partition there.. but data gone! HELP!

Can any body help me get the directory icons back onto my second partition to access my data? The system is W2k 40gig HD with 2 partitions: system & Data, my system partition works fine but my data partition has gone walkabout. I have tried every thing...Tweak! ERD but it gets stuck on 62% when going through repair,and a few other tricks people have said might work.
The funny thing is the data is still there but I can not get access to it...do I need to rebuild my Active directory..or something. anybody's help would be appreciated.

It may be the file allocation table is out of whack. I donno if this will help, but if you have not tried it..I would.

Run chkdsk and see what it says about that partition
