what program do i use to open .mp4 files?

i downloaded the fear movie from fileshack and when i go to open it i can't play it because it is an .mp4 file and, apparently, i don't have the proper program installed on my computer to run .mp4 files. so what program do i need?

You probably have the correct programs, you just need to install the proper codecs for it. This codec pack should fix your problem, K-Lite Codec Pack

thx, large nostril. i got it to open using quicktime player. i already had quicktime on my computer but it didn't open automatically with it. i had to manually associate the filetype.
