Question, computer not booting. receiving 4 beep codes ?

that depends. it could be that ur ram is not working any more. remove ur ram and see if u get the same beeps. another thing. ur vga card. u'll also get beeps if u remove it.

try reseating the video card and then if that doesn't work.....

try pulling out all the peripherals then installing just the proc/hsf, video card, and a hdd. Then try booting.

generally if I find a computer not booting the darn vid card is loose (again) Altho I guess that's what I get for not putting the hold-down screws on the cards in my boxes

BTW what mobo is it and who makes the BIOS

Thanks for the response , pulled the stick of RAM out and reseated it in different position, computer booting up ok.. .

Maybe a power supply problem, but computer will not shut down. I can hear the hard drive shut down , but have to turn off the switch on power supply to shut down

possibly the power settings in the bios are causing the shutdown problem.
