I've just built a new pc:
A8V DELUXE
AMD64 3200+
POWERCOLOR 9800PRO 128MB
1024MB CORSAIR VALUE
HITACHI DESKSTAR 80GB
Running on Windows XP Pro
The computer seems to work perfectly and can run games and that fine, but it keeps on freezing in games or just on the desktop. I don't what the problem is, i can't update the bios because internet over the network isn't working. It could be some kind of virus because this computer also gets a similar problem but more servere. I don't know what is up and would be grateful for any advice. |

u can dload the flash utility and new bios off the ASUS website. Also check if any of the components are overheating.

Are drivers installed for your NIC in Device Manager?
And yes, you can download the installer and new BIOS and run it, but I doubt that's your problem (that's keeping you off the net).

Try a hard reset of your router (actually, just unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in), while your new system's connected but off, then restart it. (Again, only if you're sure the NIC drivers are properly installed.).
Also, a virus (on the new system) is unlikely, unless you used suspect software while loading it, as you've not been online to DL one (virus, trojan).

as soon as I get the interent working on my new computer i'll download the lastest drivers and hope that sorts the problem out.
I understand that you can't network 3 pcs without a router or access point which we don't have. Before the new pc we had 2 wi-fi cards and they networked fine. But because we now have 3 that might be the problem. I've disabled the old card on the second computer and left it off, is it still possible to establish and interent connection on the new pc without a router? I know the network works because we can send files.I'm using Sygate 5.6 instead of the latest version because I read somewhere that latest version doesn't work with networks very well but it still doesn't work.
I think I have all the NIC drivers installed but can't be to sure. Thanks for your help. |
