| can't access,delete,move, etc... a folder
There is a folder on my hard druve that I can't do anything to it. It the folder that shareaza uses to store incomplete files. Since it cna't be accessed, shareaza can't save anything. I get a file error message whenever i try to download somthing with shareaza. If I try and access the folder in windows explorer, I get a message "The semaphore period has timed out"
Does anyone know how to delete this folder so that shareaza can create another one?
Thanks,
-Biz

I've also got a folder of sort of the the same character. Though mine is a folder inside a folder which is inside another folder, and another...... and another................. etc. (There is no end!)
Windows says it can't delete it beacuse the file name is too big.
Sorry, can't help you with your problem, but maybe someone can help us. |

If it's on a Linux box, it means that there is either something wrong with some character in the location name or it is too long (more than 128 characters I think). If it's on a Windows machine, it might be due to a few things, usually a Windows update or an firewall update or corrupted/updated firmware on a router. My best advice is to update go through and see what things got updated recently and try to backtrack. Sometimes, allowing windows to install drivers will also cause this probelm. As far as I know, this is an issue that only happens over a network so try messing with the folder from the computer it's on. Sorry I can't help you much on it but I've only seen this happen once and I never figured it out myself and I haven't seen much documentation on it. |

Forgot to mention that I am using Windows XP Pro.
This problem does not happen over a network. I am at the computer with the folder and I get that message when i try to access that folder.
This morning I opened up my bittorrent program and found that one of the files that was downloading had the same error message "Semaphore period has timed out"
Maybe the folder, and the file that I am downloading, have reached a spot on the hard drive that is physically damaged? |

Yeah, its the same drive thats been giving me problems. Yesterday is wasn't being detected anymore. So I got a brand new IDE cable and switched out the old one. Now the drive is being detected but I have now run into another problem, thus this thread is born.
I hate WD. |

I was getting Write delay errors left and right last night. FInally took out the drive because it kepted freezing my computer. I checked on the WD site and I still have time left to do an Advanced RMA (Again) |
