Windows 2000 & SD Host Controllers...

I recently purchased a Compaq Presario x6000 notebook. I have installed Windows 2000 on it, but can't seem to locate a driver for the SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller, for the built-in multimedia card reader. I know XP has a section in the device manager for adding these types of devices, however 2000 doesn't seem to. After browsing through the Driver CD, and Compaq's Support site, I have been unable to locate a specific driver, which leads me to believe that the one being used by XP was a default one supplied with XP. Is there any was to acquire this driver and attempt to use it under 2000? Most of my searches haven't turned up much...

Does anything show up in Device Manager as having a problem? Have you tried plugging one in and it doesn't work?

There is one unknown PCI device listed. I haven't attempted to put an SD card into the reader yet, but under XP the device is specfically listed, and everything else matches up in 2000... except for the SD Host Controller.

This site:

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/storage/sdfaq.mspx

seems to say a optional update was made available in June of 2003 to natively support SD host controllers. But I can't seem top find that optional update. Though XP SP2 does have that native support already available.

I guess try deleting the unknown device and then have it refresh and see if it will give you a file name. Then search for that. You can always try just plugging in the SD card and see what comes up.
