Can't Analyze or Defrag Drives? Why?

I recently rebuilt an old machine previously running Windows 98 (now running Windows 2000 SP2). It has an Aladdin GA-5AX motherboard and two hard drvies both attached to a PCI Promise Ultra66 controller card. Now the problem is, I am unable to get Windows 2000 to analyze or defrag the drives, yet formatting, checkdisk, and the like all work fine. Anyone have any ideas why this would be happening?

Better yet, what are you trying to use to defrag? The built-in tool?

Yeah it was the built in tool... but here is something weird. The other day it just wouldn't do anything upon clicking Analyze or Defrag, today it works fine... guess it was some crazy Win2k glitch or something. Sorry about that.
