| My computer wont boot! help!
I just bought a bunch of new hardware for my computer, put it together and it wont boot. The BIOS dont even show up. The computer starts for like 3 minutes, but nothing shows up on the moniter. any help? |

Any beep codes? If so what do they sound like (1 long beep, etc) |

probably u'r psu....maybe memory or proc. can u try another psu...plus...try unhooking everything u don't need....that means just keyboard, video card, memory, proc, and mobo..and see if you can get the bios..if you can get the bios..add a harddrive and see if you can get to bios and if it recognises the harddrive..if you get that far...add a cd drive and then try installing...from there keep adding stuff 1 thing at a time untill you get everything installed....could be a bad psu though..that's my bet! (also....did you screw the mobo directly into the case...or did you use the risers or standoffs that come with it....if your mobo is physically touching the metal of the case anywhere it could be shorting out. I'd suggest taking it out of the computer and putting it on a wooden work bench...then trying to start it..if it starts there..chances are you either had a bad connection on a plug, or you were shorting out w/ the case. |

Yeah, if it is grounding out to the case, that would be a good reason....

well, the dowels that hold my motherboard in my case are metal, if i screw it in without any washers wil it ground out? i tried all of the solutions and none of them worked, when i used a different power supply it wouldnt even turn on |

and my case is plastic so the dowels arent touching any other metal |
