Help with notebook

Hello

My friend has a HP notebook and her power supply apperently crapped out. On the harddrive she has her thesis which she needs to graduate, is thier any way or device i could use to extract the data so i can get the thesis off of the notebooks harddrive?

Maybe a HD converter would work? Take out the hard drive (carefully) from the laptop, and transplant it into a desktop PC using the following converter (or something like it):

StarTech 2.5" to 3.5" IDE converter

edit: or get a new power supply?
edit #2: meant 'hard drive' not 'floppy drive'

I think he means the hard drive not the floppy drive, and the adapter in the link will also be needed.

Yup, my brain thought "hard drive" and my fingers wrote "floppy drive". Apologies! I've edited my post. That adapter should work for a hard drive.
