I can't get flash media files to play. They video will load, but it won't play. Have this problem in IE and Mozilla 1.7.5. I have reinstalled mozilla and Flash. Does anyone have any idea on what the problem could be?
Thanks,
-Biz

If you right-click the movie, do any of the navigation options work (play)? |

flash use to work. It just stoped working one day.
And how can a fire wall block a flash download? DOesn't it get download through the standard http port 80? I've never had to open up a port for flash before. |

Well, some firewalls also do content filtering... meaning they strip out cookies, scripts, movies, flash, etc. Some firewalls also call it 'privacy settings' or something of that nature.
Here's something to try... to at least isolate the problem: - Open up a page with a flash animation in Mozilla
- right click on a blank part of the page (not the actual flash movie), and Mozilla will have an option to 'View Page Info'
- Find the [Media] tab, and somewhere in that list, you should see the Flash movie. Highlight it and click [Save As...] button
- Now open up IE or Mozilla, and drag the SWF file into the browser window, and it should play the flash animation filling the entire window
- rp
edit: If that didn't work, maybe try installing Flash in mozilla using an XPI file from netscape: Flash.xpi

I was just about to do those steps, when I clicked on a flash video, and it started playing!
From the time I got home to just a minute ago, somthing must of happen. Cause now all the videos that didn't work before work now.

Just a quick suggestion, are the sites you are using allowed to run scripts in IE and Mozilla? Many times flash files are active scripts so that people don't download them and copy them. |

It don't work in IE either and most firewalls give IE full access by default. Router firewalls only block malicious scripts in IE. Firewall is unlikely. Some builds of XP disable active scripting by default, as was the case with my girlfriend's computer. |
