Ok so this is what i have:
MSI Neo4 Plat SLI
Athlon 64 3500+
2 GB PC3200
XFX GeForce 6800 GT
So I had the computer put together except for the vid card.
Order that from zipzoomfly all other parts from newegg.
Finally got my vid card and installed it...my prob is im not getting any signal to my monitor. It's an old VGA and my card only has two DVI outs. Now it came with converters but i'm still wondering if I need to buy a new monitor before i can finally finish my comp or if there is another problem.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. |

Try another vid card if you haven't already. If you get vid...then buy a new monitor.

Look at your signal cable's plug, the one that goes directly into the vid card.
and if the pins are really low inside the plug, go grab some tweezers, and pull them all up to the right level again.
I was having monitor problems, and it wasn't picking up red color, etc.... SO I did this and it fixed it, it COULD be the same problem.

"Try another vid card if you haven't already. If you get vid...then buy a new monitor."
id almost say to check with another monitor to see that the new vid card isnt actually faulty.....they can get messed up with even slight static discharge apparently...its never happened to me but i know it can happen.
Just dont go buying a 300-500 dollar lcd or whatever and then get burned when you find out the video card is actually the problem.....although getting a new LCD would be a sort of good thing disguised as a mistake i guess. |

Yeah i dont know if i want to spend the money on a new vid card i suppose i should have said its pci-e. Also, im using a 480W psu so it should be good enough without overclocking the card at all...I will try the plug pin thing maybe that will help...
I was going to buy a new monitor anyways this just might speed up the process. Old one has been flashing yellow lately lol. |

the reason they included the adapters is because it works with old monitors...they work just fine
try switching the video card to the other slot
do you have an internal speaker and are you getting any beeps out if it when you boot?

when your computer boots does it make a sound beep beep beep three times, if it does then your video card is not plugged in well in the slot |
