| WinXP connection problems
I have a WinXP computer that has some connection problems. In the Network Connections folder, no devices or connections are listed there. If I refresh the folder, it says that no devices could be found and to check that the Network Connections service is running, and it is. If I try to ping anything on the network I get a response. If I try to ping anything else, I get a timeout. This would suggest there is something wrong with the DNS addresses but I can't change them as it doesn't detect any devices in the Network Connections folder. When I tried to install the drivers for the Westell modem (DSL modem), I get an error saying that TCP/IP protocols are not installed. I tried re-installing the Simple TCP/IP Protocols from the XP CD but nothing appears to be any better. The network card is installed properly and I've tried installing the drivers 4 different times. The device is reported as working normally in the Device Manager. Nothing should be wrong with the device as it works fine in BartPE, WinPE, and ERD Commander.
This is what I get when I run ipconfig /all:
The Broadcom device is the ethernet card. I installed the MS Loopback Adapter in the hopes that I could configure TCP/IP but still not. And I really don't know what that Tunnel adpater thing is. It looks like it's using IPv6 and IPv4? But I don't know how to change that. If I run "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew"; I still get the IPv6 looking IPs and it adds an extra Tunnel adapter. If I try to use "netsh int ip reset", I get an error saying that some commands are not available.
Any ideas on what might be the issue and how to fix it? |
